5.1

mandate

For this project, the goal was to design an art catalogue for the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM) containing pictures and information about the art in the Montreal subway .Within the STM stations lies a collection of amazing artwork and history about Montreal, therefore, the challenge revolved on finding a good way to tackle big amounts of images and text in an appropropriate way when at the same time expressing Montreal's unique esprit and art. Because the stm is a colorful artistic organization, it was a project full of energy and possibilities.

insight

The stm have its own distinctive saturated colors that represent them, and the reason why I didn’t use the colors in the same way (saturated) is because the catalogue is about the artists and their work and not about the stm itself. Instead, I referred to the main colors of the subway lines but I gave them a new still energetic but less saturated tone to the catalogue.

5.3

outcome

The final outcome is a well balanced piece with a lot white space. Even though I was having the stm design in mind while designing the art catalogue, I managed to find its own tone of voice that is apart from the stm’s.
